The Ides of March

March is starting out with some nice weather and rain but then we live in Western Washington so what would you expect. After the cold weather in March anything would be welcome.

We've posted our latest newsletter, The RunnerDuck Review, on our web site at www.runnerduck.com/03-04-06.htm. If you haven't subscribed to it yet take a peek and follow the subscribe instructions at the bottom of the page.

We also have a new web page up about our PT Cruiser. We bought a plain Jane Cruiser and have been adding to it a little at a time. We're trying to preserve that retro look of the late '40s and we think it's looking pretty good. We still have a way to go but take a peek and see what you think. The dual exhaust should be he in a week or so and will have that to install. It should sound great and add to the looks.

That's about it for this time. Have a great month ahead with Spring starting on the 20th, yipee!

Man It's COLD!

I was gone a few days this week on business to Southern California. The weather down there was pretty nice with highs in the 60's but when I got home Wednesday night it was 22 degrees F and dropping. We've had wind chills this week down to 14, for the Seattle area that's COLD.
I know, there are many of you from other parts of the country where it goes sub zero but it's unusual for us. Our friends in Montana who make the Woodn' Wares hard maple spoons and Spoon Oil told me that it was -9 when I was whining about our cold weather.
Over the past week I managed to get a web page posted for my PT Cruiser. I got my 2005 PT Cruiser late last year and I've been modifying it every since. If you'd like to see what I've done you can go to www.runnerduck.com/cars/pt_cruiser.htm.
The Daytona 500 is about to start so I better cut this short. Have a great week ahead!

We Love You Seahawks!

A few days have passed since the Seahawks big loss to the Steelers and we're beginning to recover and move on to the Olympics. While there were many mistakes by both teams and both teams clamped down the other's superstars the real game makers were the referee's. It's impossible to know what the outcome of the game would have been without the lousy officiating but it sure would have been a better game.

The Olympics are under way and it's always fun to watch and learn about all the different events. While we're not huge sports fans it's great to see all the different competitions and great athletes.

Around the Western Washington area the sun finally came out and people are like bears coming out of hibernation. People are washing cars, pruning plants and generally getting out of doors again. Winter is still here and there is more rain and possibly snow in the forecast but at least it's nice for the moment.

I'll be traveling to Southern California this week on business so I guess I'll get to see more sun no matter what it does at home.

Not a whole heck of a lot going on this time of year so won't keep you any longer. Have a great week ahead and we'll chat again soon.

It's Super Bowl Sunday and the Seahawks are ready to strut their stuff. If they blow through the Steelers like the wind strom blew through Western Washington yesterday they will win hands down.

Yesterday, February 4th, we had a wind storm that hit the coast in the middle of the night Friday night and lasted in the Seattle area until around 4:00 PM. There were wind gusts up to 78 MPH and sustained winds around 30 to 40. While our lights flickered off and on all day we never totally lost power or sustained any damage at our house.

There were a lot of trees down around the state uprooted by a combination of soggy ground, we had 12" of rain in January, and the strong wind. There will be a number of people who will not get to see the Super Bowl unless they go somewhere that there is power.

Today the sun is supposed to come out and stick with us for about a week. That will be a welcome sight after the rainy winter we have encountered.

That's all the exciting news of the day. The only other thing to say is GO SEAHAWKS!

Getting Started

Welcome to my world. It's February 4, 2006 and I'm just getting into the world of bloging. I hope that in due time you will find some interesting conversation here and come back often. I'm Ken and my wife is Marilyn, we live in Kirkland, Washington and have a great many interests that we'll talk about in the future.

Why RunnerDuck?
The Birth of Runnerduck.com

(A Love Story)

Written by Marilyn

Many years ago (around 17 years) I met Ken. Actually, he was my boss. It seemed that we were immediately attracted to each other. He had a twinkle in his eye and always made me feel so special. We dated for a time. But as life would have it, we drifted apart. Time passed. After 2 marriages and raising three kids later for him, and a blur of relationships and looser dates for me (I never did get married), a mutual friend arranged to put Mr. Wonderful (Ken) back on my door step. WOW! Just like it was yesterday the spark was still there. I felt like a kid again, holding hands, hotdogs in the park, and of course going to the County Fair.

It was at the Fair that we found Runner Ducks. Ken had seen them before and wanted to share them with me. Those poor Runner Ducks, like the outcast dodo bird, were way in the back where no one ever ventured. It seemed like he was just waiting for us to come visit and when he stood up for the first time it was amazing! He was so tall, so straight, and his cute little walk was almost like a penguin waddle!

I fell in love with those Runner Ducks that day, and Ken some time before that day.

We are married now. I wasn't going to let him get away again! And trying to make up for all those years gone by. We look forward to seeing the Runner Ducks at the Fair, but are not always successful. Those ducks are very illusive.

A famous Runner Duck you may have seen is the white duck in the movie Babe. Although as Runner ducks go, that one just looked like a tall duck, it didn't have the "unique posture" for which they are known.

So that's the story. RunnerDuck is a new beginning, a chance to fulfill lost dreams and hopes. And a time for a whole lot of fun. How could a duck be all that? I'm not sure. But I do know there's a mighty powerful magic in those feathers!

That's it for now, make a good day!
